Ronald St. Saviour is a licensed Master Maine Guide in outdoor recreation and a Licensed Maine Forester, with a degree in Forestry. He is the founder and director of Southern Maine Guide Service and The Maine Outdoors; a unique alternative outdoor educational school/program.
More than merely
a profession, Ron's lifelong relationship with the Maine outdoors
has been a labor of love. His respect for the Maine woods coupled
with his vast knowledge of its many wonders and rewards has made
him a first choice for groups who have come to expand their own
relationship with the outdoors.
Maine's rugged
beauty can be threatening for those who are unfamiliar with its
many challenges. By learning about the outdoors and its interconnection
with our lives as individuals and as part of the community, outdoor
recreation can become a safe, more enjoyable experience. By inviting
children, adults, families and a wide variety of groups to his
facility located in the heart of rural Maine, St. Saviour engages
in what he feels is the best part of being a Maine Guide: sharing
positive experiences in the outdoors with visitors and students, on this Maine Youth Retreat.
In doing so he puts a lot of smiles on their faces.
Master Guide and Forester, Ronald St. Saviour, looks forward to meeting you and your family at the St. Saviour Tree Farm where you will experience the best Maine Family Vacation has to offer.
Ron's passion for the outdoors made it very difficult throughout elementary and high school to concentrate on studies inside the classroom and his grades reflected it. Having compassion for students with similiar challenges and being an outdoor enthusiast, he felt compelled to create an Outdoor Education Program (The Maine Outdoors), in which elective credits and Continued Education Units (CEUs) may be earned as part of the school's curriculum.
At Southern Maine Guide Service, they believe the Maine outdoors should be enjoyed to the fullest. St. Saviour's Tree Farm offers the perfect arena to camp, hike, swim, canoe, kayak, fish, hunt, snowmobile, cross country ski and snowshoe. For your Maine Family Vacation or an educational experience we offer classes through The Maine Outdoors outdoor Educational Programs for: Adults, Elementary and High Schools, Home Schools, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, Church and Youth Groups and Christian Schools.
Chris St. Saviour is an outdoor enthusiast and a native of Maine. He resides with his wife and daughter in Alfred, Maine. Chris is a licensed Arborist, Master Maine Guide, a Certified Lifeguard, and an American Canoeing Association (ACA) River Kayak Instructor. His skills in the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and the water sports (canoeing & kayaking), are second-to-none! He looks forward to enhancing your outdoor skills and working (playing) with you on the river, at our Maine Canoeing & Kayaking School.
Alternative instructors - We may choose to bring other specialized instructors; Maine Guides, Maine Game Wardens, Maine Forest Service, Teachers, and others, depending on the nature of the program and students needs. These instructors are professionals at what they do and they look forward to sharing their knowledge and skills with you.
